Welcome to Hunters Stage Combat
“If all the circumstances of acting are made too easy, then there’s no grain of sand to make the pearl.”
STAGE COMBAT

Stage Combat, also known as fight craft or fight choreography, is a specialized technique in theatre that allows performers to create the illusion of physical combat without causing harm to themselves or their scene partners. Originally developed for live stage plays, it has since expanded to include operatic and ballet productions, as well as filmed fighting sequences in cinema and television.
Often associated with the practice of stunts, Stage Combat is a highly disciplined skill that requires dedication, practice, and determination to master. Actors who specialize in this field are typically trained in dance, gymnastics, or martial arts and use their expertise to create thrilling fight scenes that engage and captivate audiences.
Beyond its practical applications, Stage Combat is also a valuable tool for helping performers understand their bodies and focus their minds. By mastering the intricacies of fight choreography, actors develop a heightened sense of physical control and emotional awareness that can enhance their craft and elevate their performances.
At its core, Stage Combat is a celebration of the artistry and athleticism that goes into creating memorable stage and screen moments. Whether you are an actor looking to expand your skill set or an audience member eager to be swept up in the excitement of a well-choreographed fight scene, Stage Combat is a vital component of the theatrical experience.
HEMA
(Historical European Martial Arts)

HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) is a discipline focused on reconstructing and studying the martial arts of Europe from the Late Middle Ages through the early modern period. While there is limited surviving documentation of the martial arts of classical antiquity, such as Greek wrestling or gladiatorial combat, dedicated technical treatises or martial arts manuals began to appear in the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and continued into the modern period.
The German and Italian schools of fencing flourished in the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance (14th to 16th centuries), followed by Spanish, French, English, and Scottish schools of fencing in the modern period (17th and 18th centuries). HEMA practitioners study these treatises and reconstruct the techniques and principles of these historical martial arts, using replica weapons and protective gear.
In a wider sense, HEMA may also include arts of the 19th century such as classical fencing and early hybrid styles like Bartitsu, as well as traditional or folkloristic styles attested in the 19th and early 20th centuries, such as forms of folk wrestling and traditional stick-fighting methods.
HEMA is a fascinating and challenging discipline that requires careful study, dedication, and a passion for history and martial arts. By exploring the techniques and strategies of Europe's past, HEMA practitioners gain a deeper appreciation of the art and science of combat, as well as a richer understanding of the cultural and historical context in which these martial arts developed.
